As a Save the Family Farms member, I urge you to act now and support a commonsense solution that enables small family farms & vineyards to survive!&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;Small producers depend on people tasting their wine before they buy – but Napa County does not have a way that allows the small family farms / micro producers to do tastings or sales on their properties. Currently, the only option to consider is a full operating winery use permit which is way out of reach for all small family farms & vineyards.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;A first step is to create a set of options for consideration. I urge you to support and direct County staff to work collaboratively on development of a micro producer compliance proposal to include a set of necessary conditions, options and restrictions. This work can be added to the development of the Small Winery Protection / use permit streaming work already in play.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;These commonsense steps would help deliver the following benefits:&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;• Creates a balanced business model and use permit framework for equal access to “direct to consumer" tasting and sales for small family vineyards & producers&#13;&#10;• Preserves Napa’s small family farm legacy and unique history&#13;&#10;• Protects the environment by eliminating the need for new infrastructure&#13;&#10;• Reduces the takeover of farmland&#13;&#10;• Keeps Agriculture as highest and best use of Napa Land&#13;&#10;• Enables family farms to be passed down to the next generation of Napa Valley farmers&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;Sincerely,
